Debit Card Pins

Debit Cards can be processed two ways: Pin or Off- Line.

Pin means the customer has the Pin Number. Pin Debit transactions are usually cheaper
to process than credit.

If you have an average transaction of $50.00 or higher Pin Debit will be a great cost saver
for you.  If you are a quick serve restaurant doing a $15.00 ticket...it will be more.

Pin transactions must be face to face. You cant do them over the phone or at the table.
The customer has to enter their own pin.

If you are in a restaurant and check out at the register you can anticipate 30 percent +/- pin debit transactions. (based on my experience with my customers).

I looked at a Chiropractor's merchant statement today and he had a $185.00 average ticket.
Going to Pin would probably save him about $30.00 in the average month.

You will need a Pin Pad that is encrypted by your processor for accpeting pin transactions.

Off-Line, also known as Signature Debit means the customer signs the transaction receipt.
These types of transactions are usually priced at about the same rates as Mastercard and Visa
.
